Teen Dies in Car Accident on 18th Birthday

On a day that should have been marked by celebration, tragedy struck a Texas community. One young man was left feeling as though he should have been able to do more to help the victims. Several have blamed confusing posted speed limits as the cause of the recent fatal car accident. Some residents claim that there have been more than a dozen accidents in the same curve.

A young woman was traveling with friends on her 18th birthday. She was seated in the front passenger side of the vehicle. Witnesses stated that the driver of the vehicle did not appear to apply the brakes at all when attempting to navigate what is said to be known as a dangerous curve in the road. According to reports, the vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a tree.

A young man who saw the accident acted as a first responder and began to pull victims from the vehicle, which was on fire. The teen in the front passenger’s side was trapped inside the vehicle. The man said later that he wished he had been able to do more to help her. It was reported that he stayed near her until rescue workers arrived, although she later succumbed to her injuries at a nearby medical center. Two others were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

Compensation can be Found through a Car Accident Lawyer

Anyone who is injured in an accident or the family members of someone who died in a fatal car accident have the right to pursue a claim in a Texas civil court against the driver who they believe to have acted negligently. Doing so successfully could result in court-awarded compensation. That compensation might help alleviate some of the financial burdens that often result from an accident.
