Fatal Auto Accident Shuts Down US 290

Texas U.S. Highway 290 was recently shut down following a tragic collision that resulted in a loss of life. More than one person was injured in the fatal car accident. The vehicle that seems to have caused the crash was said to have been traveling the wrong way on the highway.

Police have stated that investigations remain ongoing with regard to the vehicle that was traveling the wrong direction in traffic at the time of the recent collision. A young woman in her twenties was driving the car that was in the wrong lane. According to reports, her vehicle struck another head-on, resulting in her own death.

Two men who were traveling in the other vehicle suffered very serious injuries and were both transported to area hospitals for emergency care. Investigators are unsure how the woman’s vehicle entered the wrong lane of traffic due to the fact that the opposite lanes of traffic on that particular portion of highway are separated by a divider. It has not yet been determined whether alcohol or drugs are factors in the case. Authorities believe the woman must have been traveling quite a distance in the wrong lane before reaching the point where the accident took place.

Victims and Families can File Legal Claims Against an At-Fault Driver

In cases where severe injuries have been caused by another driver who has died in a fatal car accident, Texas law allows injured victims to file a legal claim against the estate of the at-fault driver. Serious injuries from a vehicular collision sometimes necessitate ongoing, long-term medical care in order for a victim to achieve a full recovery. This can lead to financial distress that might be somewhat alleviated by compensation the court can award in a successfully litigated case.
