San Antonio Family Killed in Truck Crash

As we go about our daily lives, many of us fail to recognize the impact we have on others. However, when a tragic loss occurs, it is not uncommon for a community to gather together to remember the lives of those who are loss. Doing so can help support the grieving family left behind, and help friends, coworkers and acquaintances accept the sudden loss. In the aftermath of a terrible truck accident that killed four members of one family and seriously injured a fifth, one Texas community is gathering to remember the family.

The accident took place as the family was driving home from a school competition. Two of the girls had performed in a one-act play, and their mother, father and brother had attended to support them. As they were driving back on U.S. 90, they encountered a tractor trailer that was travelling in the wrong direction.

In the collision that resulted, the mother, father and two older siblings, ages 18 and 15, were killed. The youngest child, a 13-year-old boy, was injured in the crash but survived. He is currently in stable condition at an area hospital. Police reported smelling alcohol on the breath of the truck driver. He was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter, and his bond was set at $1 million.

A Texas Semi-Truck Accident Lawyer can Help Win Financial Compensation

This loss has hit the Brackettville community hard, and friends and schoolmates have been outspoken in their praise of the way that the family lived their lives. They will be deeply missed, and their death has led to outrage toward the actions of the man who caused the truck accident. As their family begins the grieving process, the Texas criminal charges will proceed against the driver. It is possible that the family will pursue a wrongful death action against the driver. A successful suit could lead to an award of damages sufficient to cover the needs of the teenage child left behind.
