Texas Teen on Bike Killed in Hit-and-Run

Authorities in Fort Worth, Texas are currently investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that took place on a recent Thursday evening. The bicycle accident claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy who was riding his bicycle when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle. The teen suffered severe trauma to multiple areas of his body. He was rushed to the hospital for emergency medical treatment, but was unable to survive his injuries.

The police are reviewing footage obtained from traffic and surveillance cameras in the area in an attempt to gain information on the vehicle involved in the crash. Based upon the presence and type of tire tracks on the clothing of the young victim, they believe that the vehicle was a truck or SUV. They also believe that the vehicle has body damage.

The authorities are asking the public for help in identifying the vehicle and driver involved in this fatal accident. In a recently released statement, the police department acknowledged that accidents can happen, but that drivers always have a responsibility to stop at the scene of an accident and attempt to call for help or render aid. When they fail to do so, criminal charges could result.
