Houston Pastor and Family Killed in Car Crash

Being a good Samaritan is something many Texas residents pride themselves on. Helping out others for pure kindness can sometimes be a rare occurrence, and those people who participate in random acts of kindness deserve much well-being. Unfortunately, there are occasions in which helping someone else can be detrimental to the helper. Providing assistance to someone on the roadway may seem like the natural course of action for many, but a car accident can occur in a heartbeat with those good Samaritans caught in the middle.

Four individuals were killed and several others injured when a car accident occurred late June 15. A car had apparently broken down on the side of the road, and three individuals approached the vehicle to offer assistance. While trying to render aid to the stranded driver, another vehicle came down the road and struck one of the vehicles on the side of the roadway. In the process, the three people who had come to help as well as another individual were killed.

Police are still investigating the accident and the direct cause is still unknown at this time. Authorities do suspect that alcohol or other substances were possibly a factor in the crash. It is uncertain where all of the injured and killed victims were during the time of the accident, but investigators are trying to recreate the scene in order to better understand the sequence of events that took place. There were no reports as to whether charges had been filed against any of the parties at this time.

A Texas Car Crash Attorney can Help Win Financial Compensation

One of the victims was a local pastor and two others were a mother and daughter. Their respective families are undoubtedly facing many emotionally challenges as they come to terms with the loss of their loved ones who were killed during an act of kindness. The families as well as those others seriously injured in the car accident may wish to look into wrongful death and personal injury laws in Texas to determine whether filing a civil claim against the party deemed at fault would be the best course of action for their situation.
