Houston Car Wreck Kills Woman, Sends Man to Hospital

On the way to any destination, a Texas driver can have any number of thoughts on his or her mind. They can range from mundane ideas of what to cook for their next meal to worries about a family member or financial situation. Typically, however, the idea that a sudden crash could occur at the next intersection is not at the forefront of the majority of drivers’ minds. They are aware of the risk they take while driving, especially since they cannot account for other motorists. While they hope that they are not involved in an accident, even conscientious drivers are too often victims of a fatal car accident.

A 22-year-old woman was killed in a collision after another driver reportedly ran a stop sign. The woman was traveling north when the other driver came through the intersection and into her path of travel. The woman’s vehicle crashed into the other driver’s vehicle; she was reportedly declared dead at the scene of the accident. The other driver sustained injuries, and he was transported to an area medical center for treatment.

The Houston Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident, though they did state the stop sign at the intersection is partially covered by low-hanging tree branches. Police do not believe the surviving driver to have been impaired at the time of the accident. There were no reports at this time whether the driver will be facing any immediate charges.

A Texas Car Accident Attorney can Help Win Financial Compensation

A fatal car accident can occur more quickly than anyone can imagine. An obscured street sign could make the difference in whether someone makes it home safely that day or not. This family’s day-to-day lives will surely be affected by the loss of the victim, and they could face much pain and suffering. They may wish to look into a wrongful death claim against the driver deemed at fault in order to gain compensation for any financial struggles resulting from the accident as well as other damages permissible under Texas law. In addition, the family may also have a cause of action against whoever is responsible for the low-hanging branch that was obscuring the stop sign.
