Dallas Bus Driver Responsible for Fatal Crash

When a group plans a trip with a significant amount of people, it is not unusual for a coordinator to hire a bus and driver as transportation for the entire group. When a coordinator goes through a company to hire such transportation, they often assume that the drivers have upstanding driving records and can be trusted to make the trip safely. Unfortunately, even large commercial vehicles can be involved in crashes, and a bus accident can result in several injuries and fatalities.

A Texas bus accident resulted in the death of three women and the injuries of approximately 40 other people. The group was traveling to Oklahoma to spend time at a casino. At some point during the route, it appears that the driver may have lost control causing the bus to crash into a concrete median and proceed to flip on to its side. More specific details of how the accident occurred were not reported.

Authorities continued to investigate the accident, even examining the bus for possible mechanical malfunctions. However, after checking over the vehicle and speaking with witnesses, authorities believe that the driver of the bus may be at fault for the accident. The driver himself stated that he possibly blacked out before the accident occurred. The Texas Department of Transportation has recently turned the accident over to a district attorney’s office where the driver could face charges of negligent homicide.

A Texas Bus Accident Lawyer can Help Win Financial Compensation

As the driver waits to see if he will be charged in the bus accident, those passengers injured in the incident could face a long recovery period. Serious injuries can take weeks if not months to heal, which can result in accumulating medical bills. The families of the three women killed in the accident must also deal with their emotional challenges as they face the loss of their respective loved ones. There is possibility for several personal injury and wrongful death claims to be brought against the bus driver, and those wishing to seek a claim may find looking into relevant Texas laws helping in determining if they may be eligible for compensation.
