Brownsville, Texas Woman Charged with Intoxication

Many drivers have experienced having a flat tired at least once in their driving years. It can be quite inconvenient to have to pull to the side of the road to change a tire, especially on a busy highway or in inclement weather. Changing a tire can also be very dangerous if other drivers do not give the stopped vehicle a wide enough berth. A fatal car accident can still occur when one of the vehicles is stopped, especially if another driver is impaired.

An 18-year-old Texas man was killed when he was outside of his vehicle after he got a flat tire. He was reportedly preparing to locate the spare tire when he was struck by another vehicle. The man purportedly sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision. It was not reported whether the driver of the other vehicle sustained any injuries related to the accident.

After authorities arrived on the scene, they arrested the driver of the vehicle which struck the young man. According to reports, the driver was charged with intoxicated manslaughter. There were no reports as to how authorities determined that the driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident. She was still in custody at the time of the report.

A Texas DUI Car Accident Attorney can Help You Win Financial Compensation

The young man’s family was undoubtedly devastated upon hearing about the fatal car accident. Losing such a young member of a family can bring about significant emotional distress and pain. On top of their emotional struggles, the family must also face the financial burden of arranging a funeral for their loved one. As they go through the troubled time, the family may wish to pursue a wrongful death claim against the driver deemed at fault for the accident for monetary compensation for damages permissible under Texas law.
