Kingsville Hit-and-Run Victim Wakes up in Hospital

Being involved in a car accident as a pedestrian can sometimes be an emotionally and physically scarring event. When that incident is also a hit and run accident, the emotional pain can sometimes outweigh the physical as the victim and their loved ones must sometimes wait extended periods of time for suspects to be found. Wondering whether the person potentially responsible for serious injuries will ever be brought to justice can leave a family mentally exhausted.

Unfortunately, this seems to be the case with a Texas teen and his family after he and a friend were involved in hit and run accident. Reports indicate that the boy and his friend were walking home when he was struck by the vehicle. He sustained a serious head injury and claims that he does not remember the incident, only waking up in the hospital afterward.

Though he has been released from the hospital, his family stated that his recovery has been a painful one as he still has several staples holding together a large wound on his head. He also explains that he gets headaches every day, but aside from the physical pain, he also feels upset that the person driving did not stop to help him after he was hit. His mother is attempting to deal with her emotional challenges of coming to terms with almost losing her son in the accident as well.

A Texas Hit and Run Lawyer can Help Win Financial Compensation

At this time, it has been reported that authorities have a lead for a suspect who may have been involved in the hit and run accident. However, they must run certain tests on evidence to determine whether the suspect was truly involved, and the results could take months. It was reported that the family may be considering legal action, and a personal injury claim against the driver deemed to be at fault may be appropriate. Information on Texas laws relevant to their situation could help them in determining what steps to take should they seek reimbursement for the financial damages sustained as a result of this tragedy.
