Sam Houston Students Killed in Car Accident

When young people are killed in automobile accidents, the events are understandably considered very tragic. Their families may be extremely grief stricken at the sudden loss of their loved one due to a car accident and possibly just when the victims were starting to experience new phases of life. Many individuals consider college a time to explore and learn more about certain fields of study as well as about themselves, but unfortunately, some do not complete the journey.

Three students from Sam Houston State University in Texas died in a single-car accident just before a fall graduation ceremony. The vehicle was reportedly driven by a 19-year-old female who did not survive the crash. Two other occupants of the vehicle also suffered fatal injuries and were mentioned as being a 22-year-old male and a 20-year-old male. A fourth occupant of the vehicle sustained injuries but is expected to recover.

The cause of the accident has not yet been clearly determined. However, speed is being considered a variable in the incident. Authorities are continuing to investigate the event and will possibly be able to learn more about the fatal accident.

A Texas Car Accident Attorney can Help Win Financial Compensation

The families of the deceased students are undoubtedly facing a difficult time. Funeral arrangements must be handled, and on top of the emotional struggles such tasks can bring, financial burdens could also come about. Though the driver of the vehicle sustained fatal injuries in the car accident, the family members of the other decedents may be able to seek wrongful death claims against the driver’s estate, if they choose to do so. As such endeavors could prove complicated, information on Texas laws dealing with such events could help concerned parties determine how to move forward.
