Car Crashes into Austin's SXSW Crowd, 2 Fatalities

When a festival is held in any area, it can often draw large crowds who wish to socialize and see the attractions that are appearing. Though attending such events can be an enjoyable time out, there is the chance that an accident could occur. If that event is a fatal car accident, the enjoyable outing could turn tragic.

Such an unfortunate event took place at the South By Southwest festival that was underway in Texas. According to reports, a driver left the roadway a drove into a crowd of people who were waiting outside of a club. There was a barricade that had been set up in order to separate the crowds from the road, but that unfortunately did not stop the vehicle.

At the time of the report, two individuals had died as a result of the accident, and at least five others were critically injured. The vehicle continued traveling after initially hitting the crowd and struck several pedestrians. The driver was taken into custody and is facing numerous charges including murder and aggravated assault. Alcohol is suspected to have played a role in the accident.

A Texas Fatal Car Accident Attorney can Help Win Financial Compensation

A fatal car accident is never an easy event to witness or be a part of, but it is even more tragic when it takes place during what should have been an enjoyable festival experience. The victims’ families are likely heartbroken concerning the sudden and tragic loss of their loved ones. As a result, they may wish to learn more about Texas laws concerning wrongful death claims, if they wish to seek compensation against the driver deemed at fault. If the driver is convicted of the allegations currently leveled against him, the chances of success for wrongful death and personal injury claims could increase.
