Texas Pedestrian in Wheelchair Struck by Van

When an individual is hit by a vehicle, it is likely that he or she may need assistance as quickly as possible. If the incident becomes a hit and run accident, the injured party could potentially be left to needlessly suffer longer than necessary until someone else comes along to help. In such a case, a driver who left the scene could possibly face serious charges, and an injured party may have cause to pursue compensation.

A hit and run accident recently took place in Texas that resulted in a disabled man becoming injured. It was reported that the man was in a wheelchair when he was hit by a van. The driver of the van did not remain at the scene and apparently did not attempt to help the man who was hit. Luckily, it did not appear that any of the injuries that the man suffered would be life-threatening.

The accident happened just after 10 p.m. Authorities are currently looking for the driver of the van that was involved in the accident. Reports stated that officers believe the driver to be a Hispanic male possibly in his 30s or 40s. When authorities apprehend the driver, criminal charges could potentially be filed if officers deem them appropriate for the situation.

A Texas Personal Injury Attorney can Help Win Financial Compensation from Hit and Run Accidents

Having a disability may make performing certain duties difficult on one’s own. If a disabled person is the victim of a hit and run accident, he or she may be unable to seek medical attention without assistance. Because the victim in this Texas accident was left without aid when the driver left the scene, that individual may wish to consider filing a personal injury claim against the driver in order to seek compensation for damages suffered in the incident.
