Drunk Driving Leads to Head-On Collision

Drunk driving continues to be the cause of many injuries and deaths across the nation. A recent Texas car accident resulted in the death of one person and criminal charges against another. Sadly, a daughter was left mourning the loss of her mother in the alcohol-related incident.

The tragic crash occurred about an hour and a half after midnight on a recent Sunday. A 43-year-old woman had reportedly been visiting her friend to celebrate a family member’s birthday. Upon leaving the party, the friend said that she told the victim to be careful traveling home and to call to let her know she had safely arrived. She said that this was her custom whenever her friend would visit and that her friend always called to let her know she was back home.

After the recent celebration, a call went out to police about an apparent wrong-way driver on the road where the woman was traveling. A 19-year-old male was behind the wheel of the car that was headed in the wrong direction. His vehicle is said to have crashed head-on into the one the woman was driving. She did not survive the collision.

Drunk Drivers can be Held Civilly Liable – Consult with an Attorney to Receive Damages

The wrong-way driver has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter in the Texas car accident. Though filing a lawsuit can never remove the grief a family experiences in the sudden and tragic death of a loved one, a successfully litigated case filed on behalf of the deceased can bring court-awarded compensation that can be used to help alleviate some of the financial costs associated with an accident. In this case, a young woman has been left to care for her two younger siblings. In similar cases, surviving family members would have a right to seek compensation for such tremendous damages.
