Lake Charles Car Accident Leaves Many Victims

A crash occurred on a Texas roadway that resulted in the loss of one life and injuries to several others. The fatal car accident involved two vehicles. The Texas Department of Safety reported that the collision took place on a road in Amarillo.

Reports indicate that a 23-year-old man was driving a vehicle that carried two other occupants. One of the passengers in the man’s vehicle was said to be his 6-month-old son. Apparently, the driver veered across the center lane of traffic and crashed into another vehicle. The 62-year-old man driving the vehicle that was reportedly struck in the collision was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The young man driving the car that seems to have drifted out of its lane was also injured in the crash, as was his infant son. They were both listed in stable condition after being taken to the hospital for treatment. Sadly, a woman who was also traveling in the vehicle did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Car Accident Victims can Claim Legal Compensation

When a fatal car accident occurs on Texas roadways, the immediate family members who survive a victim can file a legal claim in a civil court if the accident was caused by another motorist’s negligence. In seeking compensation for damages, a family could receive a compensatory award in a successfully litigated case that could be used to help absorb funeral costs and other expenses related to the accident. An attorney with experience in motor vehicle accidents would be able to assess an individual case and help those involved determine what might be the best way to proceed when preparing to pursue legal action against the person deemed liable in the incident.
