Skateboarder Killed in Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Incident

A police investigation remains ongoing after a tragic accident occurred recently in Texas. The incident has been reported as a hit and run accident. Police have stated that they discovered evidence at the scene that can help locate the vehicle suspected of being involved in the accident.

A passerby is said to have called police shortly after 2:30 a.m. to report an apparent accident scene. The person had noticed a skateboard on the road, then saw what appeared to be an unconscious person lying nearby. Police immediately responded to the call.

It was determined that the 21-year-old young man lying on the road had been struck and killed by a motor vehicle. Officers who conducted a preliminary investigation of the scene apparently found evidence that the vehicle that had hit the man was either a pickup truck or other sport utility vehicle. They also stated that the vehicle in question most likely sustained front headlight damage.

Pedestrians can Find Compensation Through Legal Means

In similar circumstances, once Texas officers locate a driver suspected to have caused the death of a pedestrian, a deceased victim’s surviving family members would be able to seek recourse for the untimely loss of their loved one by filing a legal claim in a civil court. In such cases, those filing a claim would be able to seek compensation for damages that might include emotional pain and suffering, loss of potential earnings, funeral expenses and any other monetary losses associated with a hit and run accident. A compensatory award in no way replaces the loss of human life, but it might help family members alleviate some of the financial burdens that might be incurred in the aftermath of an accident.
