Five Dead After Fiery 18-Wheeler Crash in Texas
A Dimmit County highway, south of San Antonio, became the scene of a horrific tragedy on a recent Thursday. A Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper gave a report on the truck accident that took the lives of five men. One other driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious burns.
According the officer, the deadly morning crash occurred more than 100 miles south of San Antonio on Highway 83. A pickup truck in the process of turning left apparently became an obstacle for a truck, causing its driver to swerve out of the way. That truck was hauling a trailer filled with fuel; unfortunately, the driver was unable to avoid a collision. The two vehicles crashed, leaving the fuel-laden trailer in the roadway. The truck that had been pulling it veered off the highway.
Moments later, another pickup and a van crashed into the fuel tank, and a ball of fire quickly engulfed both of those vehicles. The driver of that pickup survived but suffered serious burns covering more than 80 percent of his body. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Five men occupying the van died.

5-Year-Old Dies in Car Crash, Cell Phone Use Involved
A Denton, Texas police officer recently spoke out, warning holiday drivers to put down their phone devices when behind their wheel of their automobiles. His words of caution came in response to a fatal car accident which took the life of a 5-year-old girl on Christmas Eve. The wreck occurred on Interstate 35 on the shoulder of the road where troopers were manning a traffic stop.
The young girl’s parents and 8-year-old brother were traveling with her. Their vehicle was headed southbound in the lane when they approached the Public Safety Trooper’s spot, which was causing the flow of traffic to slow down. When the driver of the family’s car came to the stop, they were hit from behind by another vehicle.
The police spokesman reported a possibility that the driver of the second vehicle was using a cellular phone when the collision took place. The investigation of the accident is ongoing, and it is unknown whether charges will be brought against the driver. The identity of those involved in the crash has not been shared with the public.
The responding officer stated that all he could think of when he received the telephone call regarding the tragedy was his own children. He lamented that it is a sad situation when something like this happens during the Christmas season. The officer also reminded drivers that when a life is lost in an accident due to someone’s negligence, it is a memory that will have to be lived with for the rest of his or her life. Hence, he urged all drivers to put down their phones while driving.
It was reported that the young girl was flown to a Children’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her family members, as well as the driver of the vehicle that hit them, were taken by ambulance to a local emergency room. No details have been provided concerning their conditions.

Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident
Leaving the scene of an accident can often make an unfortunate situation worse. If a person has been hit by a vehicle and the driver does not stop to help, that person could suffer unnecessarily. Additionally, the individual in the vehicle could potentially face serious charges if the hit and run accident leads to a fatality. If the driver is convicted, the family of the victim may use that conviction as evidence in a civil case.
A woman in Texas was recently convicted on felony charges after being involved in a hit and run that led to another woman’s death. It was reported that the woman had hit a bicyclist while driving her truck and that she did not remain on the scene of the accident. The woman had apparently thought she struck a tree, which was her reasoning for not aiding the victim.
During the trial, the defense stated that the bicyclist was not riding in the proper bicycle lane, which contributed to the accident. However, after deliberation, the jury convicted the driver on the felony charges of failure to stop and render aid. She was sentenced to 15 years in jail as a result of the verdict.

Because the criminal trial for the driver involved in the hit and run accident is over, the family of the victim may wish to now move forward with a civil case if they have not done so already. By filing a wrongful death claim, the family may be able to pursue restitution for their loss and subsequent damages. Because the driver was convicted of the criminal charges, that conviction could potentially increase the chances of success for a civil claim relating to the Texas tragedy.

Texas Bus Accident Results in Lawsuit
When multiple streets converge at an intersection, drivers can have numerous aspects to consider. They must pay attention to any traffic signals or signs that they may need to follow, and they also need to be aware of other drivers approaching the same intersection. If a bus driver does not consider these aspects, the large vehicle could collide with another vehicle in a bus accident.
Such an accident took place in Texas, and an injured party has filed a claim. It was reported that the bus was traveling west when the driver apparently did not stop at a stop sign. As a result, the bus collided with another vehicle that had the right-of-way while traveling south. The collision resulted in the driver of the southbound vehicle suffering serious injuries.
The injured driver claims that his injuries will likely be permanent. As a result, he is seeking compensation from the driver of the bus as well as the South East Texas Regional Planning Commission. The commission has also been named due to liability for apparently owning the bus involved in the accident. It was unclear whether the man was seeking a specific amount in damages and interest.

Drunk Driver Arrested for Intoxication in Car Crash
Failing to yield to other drivers is often a contributing factor in car accidents. If a driver is under the influence, the likelihood of making a driving error such as failing to yield could increase. Collisions with failure to yield as a factor can range in severity from being minor to being a fatal car accident. The latter is a worst case scenario that many individuals would hope to avoid.
Unfortunately, a fatal accident recently took place in Texas due to failing to yield. A driver in a car was traveling south when a pickup truck attempted to make a left turn. The attempted turn took the truck into the path of the car, and a collision occurred.
The driver of the car suffered fatal injuries due to the crash. The individuals in the pickup truck were not injured. At this time, authorities believe that the driver of the truck failed to yield to the oncoming car. Alcohol was also suspected to have been a factor, and the driver of the truck has been charged with intoxication manslaughter. She was taken into custody, and the investigation continues to be open.

A fatal car accident that takes place due to an intoxicated driver can leave a family with a profound sense of loss. As this situation moves forward, the family of the victim will likely wish to follow the criminal case for the pickup truck driver. If that driver is found guilty of the charges leveled against her, the decedent’s family may wish to file their own civil claim in Texas for wrongful death and possibly used the potential conviction to bolster their case. In fact, the family has the legal right to pursue a civil claim even if no criminal conviction is obtained.

Buda, Texas Woman Killed in 18-Wheeler Crash
Trying to avoid a collision may not always result in the best possible outcome. In some cases, attempting to maneuver around a vehicle could lead to a collision with another vehicle traveling a different way or one that also attempts to avoid a crash. Situations in which a tractor trailer attempts to avoid hitting another vehicle can sometimes result in a truck accident occurring.
A situation recently took place under similar circumstances in Texas. It was reported that a vehicle had stopped or possibly slowed down in order to turn onto another road when a tractor trailer veered in an attempt to avoid colliding with the vehicle. This action took the truck into the opposite lanes of travel where it hit another semi-truck. A vehicle traveling behind the first truck also tried to avoid involvement in the collision, but the vehicle was hit by the second truck.
The driver of the last vehicle involved in the crash suffered fatal injuries. Her vehicle was pushed approximately a quarter of a mile before the truck was able to stop. At this time, the situation is still being investigated. There was no mention of any charges that may be filed in relation to the incident.

Teenager Killed in Car Accident
Texas residents may share the concern of many others about the number of teenagers who lose their lives in car accidents. Many teenage drivers do not realize that high rates of speed on wet roads require extra caution that often comes with experience. A Texas family recently lost a child after a recent car accident in New Territory.
It was reported that a 17-year-old driver and a 16-year-old passenger were traveling home after attending a function at their school. Deputies reported that the road was wet when the tragic accident occurred on a recent Friday. They allege that the driver traveled at a high rate of speed when his car hit the curb. After losing control of the vehicle, it hit a brick wall, and the impact caused the car to overturn and land on its roof.
The passenger reportedly died on impact, and the driver was airlifted to a hospital. His condition at the time of the media report is unknown. No information about an accident investigation was provided, but an investigation typically follows accidents where fatalities occur. Deputies mentioned that the wet road, combined with high speed, may have led to the tragic accident.

Man Dies in Hit-and-Run in Downtown Houston
When involved in an accident, many drivers opt to follow the law and stay on the scene in order to help and provide information to authorities. Unfortunately, not all drivers follow this regulation, and some may flee the scene in an attempt to evade punishment or other negative repercussions. However, doing so often leads to additional charges for drivers involved in a pedestrian accident or other type of hit-and-run incident, and injured parties or victims’ families may consider their own legal courses.
An accident involving a pedestrian recently took place in Texas that resulted in the pedestrian’s death. It was reported that the incident took place at approximately 2:30 p.m., and the driver did not remain on the scene. The vehicle was crashed, and the driver apparently fled the scene on foot.
The incident resulted in the pedestrian suffering serious injuries, which he succumbed to after being transported to an area hospital. Authorities are still working to locate the driver of the vehicle and stated that that individual could potentially face charges for leaving the scene and other allegations. Police will also work to determine whether the driver was under the influence when the incident took place.
