Texas Teacher Sentenced in Hit-and-Run Killing

When a fatal hit and run accident takes place, the driver involved could potentially face criminal charges in relation to the event. As a result, that driver may go through a criminal trial in order for it to be determined whether the charged individual should be convicted of the allegations. During this time, the family of the victim involved in the hit and run accident may not be able to pursue a civil case, but they may wish to file a claim after the criminal proceedings conclude.

The parents of a young child killed in a Texas hit and run accident may be considering their legal options since the criminal case for the driver involved recently ended. The situation reportedly began when the driver ran a red light, hit a child in the crosswalk and then fled the scene. The driver apparently went five days before turning herself for the fatal event.

As the driver’s case concluded, she was sentenced to eight years for manslaughter and 10 years for failure to stop and render aid. The sentences are set to be served concurrently. The young boy’s family members expressed much grief over the loss of the child.

Because the woman was convicted of the charges stemming from the hit and run accident, the family may have a greater chance for a successful wrongful death claim. Such a claim could allow them to pursue a case seeking compensation for their loss and other damages permitted under Texas law. The conviction and other information from the related criminal trial could potentially be used as evidence in a civil case.

Texas Tech Student Killed in Car Crash

Learning that their child was involved in a serious car accident can be frightening news for parents. If the crash turns out to be fatal, the parents may want to know as much as they can about the event in order to better understand how they wish to move forward with the situation. Though a fatal car accident will undoubtedly lead to emotional struggles, the family of the victim may want to logically understand their legal options.

A family in Texas may be considering their choices after a young woman was recently killed in a car crash. It was reported that the woman was apparently driving a vehicle when she was involved in the crash with a police officer. It was suspected that one of the vehicles did not stop at a red light, but at the time of the report, it was not disclosed which vehicle may have run the light.

The girl, unfortunately, suffered fatal injuries in the collision. She was listed as a 20-year-old individual who was set to start school at Texas Tech. Some of her peers expressed shock and grief over the loss of the young woman. The officer involved in the accident suffered minor injuries.

Until it is revealed which driver may have failed to stop at the red light, it is unknown who may have been at fault for the car accident. However, the incident should continue to be under investigation. If it is found that the police officer did not stop at the light, he could potentially be considered at fault. If this turns out to be the case, the family of the victim may wish to look into wrongful death claims in Texas to determine whether filing such a claim could be right for their situation.

2 Killed in Texas Car Crash

Traffic lights are put in place in order to provide some sense of organization and safety regulations to everyday traffic. However, if individuals do not pay attention to these signals or think they can beat the light, they may find themselves involved in a serious situation. Not only could running a red light result in a traffic ticket, a fatal car accident could also potentially result.

A similar situation recently took place in Texas that resulted in the deaths of two individuals. It was reported that a pickup truck ran a red light and as a result, collided with another pickup truck. The accident took place at approximately 9 a.m. and resulted in multiple injuries to parties in both trucks.

A passenger in the first pickup truck suffered fatal injuries, and the driver of that truck was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries. Two individuals in the second truck were thrown from the vehicle, one of whom suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The other individual and three other passengers were taken from the scene for treatment. At this time, there have been no charges leveled against any of the parties involved.

Though there have been no allegations yet, the investigation into the fatal car accident could lead to authorities considering appropriate charges. Until that time, the families of the victims and the injured parties may wish to consider their own legal options. Funeral arrangements and medical bills can be costly, and filing wrongful death or personal injury claims against the driver deemed responsible could allow certain parties to seek restitution for damages permissible under Texas law.

2 Airlifted after 18-Wheelers Hit Car near Mt. Pleasant

If a roadway does not have a physical median to separate traffic traveling in different directions, a head-on collision could easily occur. If a driver drifts into the other lane, a split second is enough time for an accident to take place. Should a crash involving an 18 wheeler happen, significant damage and injuries could result from the truck accident.

A similar situation recently took place in Texas when a car and two tractor trailers were involved in a wreck. It was reported that the driver of the car was traveling south and failed to maintain the proper lane. As a result, the car moved into the northbound lane and crashed head on with a tractor trailer. Another 18-wheeler attempted to avoid the initial collision, and as a result, that truck traveled into the ditch and turned over.

The car apparently had three occupants: the driver, a 4-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl. It was reported that the boy had to be transported from the scene by helicopter due to critical injuries, and the little girl did not suffer any injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer involved in the initial crash was also uninjured, but the driver of the second truck was airlifted from the scene. It was not mentioned whether any citations or charges have been filed in relation to the event.

Because the incident resulted in serious injuries, the driver deemed responsible could potentially face legal repercussions. The injured truck driver may have cause to file a personal injury claim that, if successful, could result in his being awarded compensation for medical bills and other damages resulting from the accident that Texas law deem appropriate.

Woman Arrested in Fatal Texas Car Crash

Driving under the influence is one of the most common causes of car accidents across the country. Because a person who has consumed alcohol is not always able to react as quickly or efficiently due to impairment, a fatal car accident may occur that could have otherwise been avoided. If such an accident does take place, the driver deemed responsible could face criminal charges and civil claims.

A driver in Texas may be in a similar situation after she was charged in relation to a fatal accident. The situation reportedly happened when a pickup truck with a male driver was stopped at a red light. While the truck was stopped, a vehicle with a female driver approached from behind, failed to stop and hit the truck in the rear. As a result, both vehicles caught fire.

The male driver suffered fatal injuries in the accident and was declared dead on site. The female driver was also injured, and authorities believe that she was under the influence when the accident took place. After being treated at the hospital, she was taken into custody for intoxication manslaughter. Other vehicles were apparently involved in the crash as well, and more individuals were also injured.

Because the female driver was charged in the fatal car accident, she will likely have to face criminal proceedings for that serious allegation. If she is found guilty and responsible for the crash, the family of the deceased victim may have substantial cause to file a wrongful death claim against the responsible party. Such a claim could allow them to seek compensation for damages allowable under Texas law.

Dallas Truck Accident Leaves One Dead

When a driver does his or her best to pay attention to the other travelers on the roadway, he or she may be able to avoid becoming involved in an accident. The actions of the other drivers cannot be predicted, and individuals driving large vehicles such as tractor-trailers can pose a considerable threat. If one of those drivers is under the influence, a deadly truck accident could occur.

Unfortunately, such a situation recently took place in Texas. A vehicle that was occupied by the driver and another passenger reportedly pulled into the roadway and was hit on the passenger side by a truck. As authorities were investigating the scene, they reportedly found a small bottle of alcohol on the driver of the truck.

Due to the collision, the passenger in the first vehicle suffered fatal injuries. She died at the scene. The driver of that vehicle was also listed as being injured in the crash. At this time, the driver of the truck has been charged with intoxication manslaughter. He was taken into custody in relation to this felony allegation.

Fatal Texas Hit-and-Run Suspect at Large

Trying to flee from an accident may seem like a viable option for an individual, but in most cases, leaving the scene of an accident only results in additional charges for the parties involved. A hit and run accident is a very serious event that can result in serious injuries or even fatalities. If a fatality does occur in a hit and run incident, the party deemed responsible could face felony charges.

A similar situation recently took place in Texas, and authorities are currently looking for the driver of an SUV. Reports state that a 61-year-old man was attempting to cross a street when he was hit by the SUV. The driver did not stop after the collision to render aid and continued traveling from the scene.

The victim was transported to a hospital after emergency crews were apparently alerted to the accident. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries approximately 30 minutes after arriving at the hospital. Felony charges are likely to be leveled against the driver involved after he or she is apprehended by authorities.

A hit and run accident is a very difficult event as actions against the party deemed at fault are delayed until the driver is located. When the accident is one that results in the death of an individual, the situation is considerably more unfortunate. While the family waits for the driver to be taken into custody, they may wish to explore their options for possibly seeking restitution for the loss of their loved one. A successful wrongful death claim in Texas could potentially result in their being awarded compensation for permissible damages stemming from the accident.

San Marcos, Texas Accident Leaves 1 Dead

Drivers are taught from a young age that one of the most important aspects of driving is to pay attention. Another lesson that young people often hear is that they should not drink and drive. When a driver is impaired, they are unable to pay the proper amount of attention that is needed to drive safely. As a result, a fatal car accident could occur, and a driver could face an investigation and charges.

Such a situation may have recently taken place in Texas, with a six-vehicle collision resulting in one fatality and nine individuals being injured. Reports stated that a vehicle was stopped waiting to make a left turn when a vehicle approaching from behind did not slow and as a result, collided with the stopped vehicle. The stopped vehicle was then pushed into another lane of traffic where it was hit by two other vehicles and collided with a third vehicle. Damage from the collisions also caused another vehicle to be involved.

The driver of the stopped vehicle was transported to an area hospital where he was unfortunately declared dead. Two passengers in his vehicle were also taken for treatment and were still hospitalized in serious condition at the time of the report. Six other individuals had also been transported to the hospital but have been released. At this time, the other driver involved in the initial collision is currently being charged with intoxication manslaughter.

Houston Accident Leaves 5 Dead; Alcohol Suspected

When a group of people go out for a drive, they may not be thinking about potentially being involved in a car accident. Unfortunately, another driver could commit a traffic violation that could result in a serious accident. If a driver is traveling in the wrong direction down a roadway, a head-on collision could take place. As a result, unsuspecting individuals could be involved in a fatal car accident.

Such a serious accident recently took place in Texas. Reports indicated that a driver traveling east in a westbound lane collided head-on with a vehicle carrying several passengers. The accident reportedly took place at approximately 11 p.m. Authorities believe that the driver of the first vehicle may have been under the influence.

It was reported that five individuals in the second vehicle were killed as a result of the crash. Four of those people were adults and the fifth was a child suspected of being around 3 years old. Another passenger in that vehicle was seriously injured and transported to a hospital in the area. It was not mentioned whether the driver of the wrong-way vehicle suffered any injuries.
