2 People Killed in Texas Bus Crash

In the latest of a string of horrific commercial bus crash incidents, a charter bus accident recently took place on a Texas highway. The crash received heavy media coverage, and has led to a great deal of community outpouring of support, as well as questions as to how the incident occurred. The bus was headed from Dallas to a casino at the time of the bus accident.

There is not yet an explanation of the exact sequence of events that led to this crash. Upon early investigation, police believe that the bus ran off the roadway and hit a barrier. It then travelled back to the other side of the road, where it struck a concrete divider. The force of that impact caused the bus to flip onto its side. At the time of the incident, the bus was carrying 45 passengers, mostly senior citizens.

Several passengers as well as the driver were ejected from the vehicle. At least two individuals lost their lives in the crash, and most of the passengers were rushed to area hospitals for emergency medical treatment. Some were airlifted from the scene after witnesses pulled them from the vehicle.

Central Texas Man on Trial for Crash that Killed 2

One year after they lost their loved ones in a terrible car crash, two families will find out the fate of the man accused of causing the accident. The Texas criminal trial of the driver recently began. The outcome will likely be of great interest to the friends and family of the two individuals killed in the fatal auto accident that took place in April 2012.

Police assert that the 24-year-old man who will stand trial was in the process of fleeing from police at the time of the crash. He was attempting to elude pursuing police officers when he ran a red light and multiple stop signs. He eventually lost control of his vehicle as he attempted to make a turn.

As a result, his Chevrolet Tahoe went airborne before crashing into a utility pole. The force of the impact was sufficient to nearly cleave the vehicle in two. The driver and a passenger in the front of the Tahoe survived the crash. Two people riding in the rear of the vehicle were fatally injured. The driver attempted to flee the scene on foot, but was apprehended by Texas police.

Conroe Crash Kills Entire Texas Family

There can be no words to adequately express the sadness and grief felt by those who knew and loved a family recently killed in a tragic accident. It is hard enough to cope with the loss of a loved one, but when an entire family is lost, the grieving process can seem unbearable. A recent fatal auto accident in Texas has led to the death of a husband, wife and their two children.

The crash took place on a recent Saturday morning on Texas 105 near the city of Conroe. The family was killed when another vehicle entered their path of travel and a collision was unavoidable. The driver of the other vehicle was a 40-year-old man. Police are not sure what led him to lose control of his pickup truck and veer into the lanes of opposing traffic.

The force of the collision left the engine of the family’s Volkswagen outside of the vehicle and sitting in the road, where it was struck by other drivers attempting to avoid the debris field. Police are investigating the deadly accident, and have noted that there were no skid marks present at the site, indicating that the vehicles collided at full speed. Full toxicology screening results are still pending, but police do not believe that alcohol or cell phone use were factors in the crash.

As the investigation progresses, Texas police will try to determine if the other driver was at fault in this fatal auto accident. If that appears to be the case, the family of the deceased could decide to move forward with a wrongful death suit against the driver. Legal action is likely the furthest thing from their minds as they try to process this unexpected tragedy, but the results of a successful civil suit could help them recover damages associated with this terrible loss.

Texas Legislator Charged with DWI After Crash

Two families are counting their blessings after a drunk driving accident that could have led to fatalities. The crash took place in the early morning hours of a recent Thursday. The story has made headlines across Texas, due to the fact that the alleged drunk driver in the car wreck is a state representative.

The incident occurred as a Fiat sat at a Travis County intersection waiting for the light to change. Another vehicle approached from the rear, and ran into the back of the Fiat at approximately 50 mph. The force of the impact caused the Fiat to hurdle forward and strike a woman who was riding her bicycle along the roadway. The driver of the BMW that struck the Fiat is an attorney and a state representative, serving her second term in the Texas House.

Emergency responders transported the driver of the BMW, a passenger in the Fiat and the bicycle rider to local hospitals for treatment. Their injuries were reported as minor at the time of the crash. There has been no update as to their current condition or prognosis for recovery.

Police arrested the state rep and charged her with driving while intoxicated. Police reports state that her blood alcohol level was 0.164 percent following the car wreck, which is more than two times the legal limit in Texas. Should the victims decide to pursue personal injury cases against her, the fact that she was driving while impaired could play heavily in their favor in Texas civil court.

TX Bill Increases Punishment for Abandoning Hit-and-Run

Texas residents may be aware of a recently proposed law filed in the state Senate concerning the criminal ramifications of being involved in a hit-and-run accident. The bill would change the current status of charges filed against those involved in a hit-and-run accident from a third degree felony charge to a second degree felony. These changes would only apply to hit-and-run accidents in which a fatality occurred.

In addition, the maximum punishment for that crime would increase from just 10 years in prison to 20 years. This comes on the heels of several high-profile hit-and-run cases within the state. Many believe that the proposed bill should include all hit-and-run accidents, even when the victim survives.

When an individual is involved in a serious car crash, the best chances for survival depend on obtaining quick emergency medical treatment. This is a scenario in which seconds and minutes really do count, making it imperative that anyone who is on the scene of an accident remains in place to call for assistance and provide basic first aid. If nothing else, it is a mark of common human courtesy and kindness to offer comfort to another individual who is suffering. The recently proposed bill would serve to encourage people to stop and render aid, and also serve as a punitive increase for those who do not stop.

When an individual flees the scene of a Texas accident, he or she is doing more than simply shirking responsibility for their role in the crash. They are also removing the possibility that they could assist the victim or potentially save a life. For families of victims who lost their life in such an accident, there is nothing that can excuse the actions of a hit-and-run driver. In many cases, the driver is eventually identified, and the family seeks a measure of justice against the driver by means of a wrongful death suit.

2 Texas A&M Cadets Killed in Car Crash

When lives are lost in a Texas car crash, those left behind begin a difficult and often lengthy grieving process. However, when the deceased were just beginning their adult lives, the loss is even harder to bear. When a young person dies in a fatal car accident, all of their potential dies with them, along with the hopes and dreams that their family held for their future.

This is the case for multiple families in the aftermath of a horrific auto accident that took place in the early morning hours of a recent Saturday. Authorities believe that the female driver of a Ford Mustang was driving in the wrong direction on Highway 290 in Harris County when she encountered another vehicle. That car, a Ford Explorer, was driven by an 18-year-old woman.

The force of the collision led to a fire, which quickly engulfed the Explorer. The driver and a rear passenger in that vehicle were trapped, and died in the fire. One other passenger escaped the vehicle with help from a family that stopped at the scene, but was in critical condition following the incident and has had to undergo surgery in recent days.

The three victims were cadets at Texas A&M. They were on their way back from a JROTC drill meet at the time of the collision. Their funerals are expected to draw large crowds as the community joins to support the families in their time of mourning.

Police report that there were beer bottles in the Mustang, and that impairment is believed to be a causal factor in the car accident. The driver of the Mustang also lost her life in the Texas crash. However, the families of the victims can sue her estate for wrongful death, should they decide to move forward with that course of action. While nothing will bring back the young people who lost their lives in this senseless crash, a civil suit could help offset the financial losses associated with the fatal car accident.

Houston Drunk Driver Faces Charges in Car Wreck Case

When a loved one is lost in a car accident, the friends and family left behind begin a hectic period of adjustment. In the immediate aftermath, final arrangements must be made, and a seemingly endless number of calls must be made. It is often not until days or even weeks later that the reality of the loss begins to set in. Once the grieving process is well underway, many in Texas turn to the circumstances behind the fatal car accident in the hope of finding justice.

A recent crash has left one family at the onset of this process. A two-vehicle wreck took place on a recent Friday night in Houston, Texas. Upon preliminary investigation, police believe that a 56-year-old man was driving a Toyota Camry northbound on Texas 6 when he entered the southbound lanes of travel for reasons unknown.

The Camry then collided with a Ford F-150 truck. As a result of the force of that collision, a passenger in the Camry sustained fatal injuries. Authorities have not yet released his name, pending notification to his family. In addition, the driver of the Ford was also injured in the crash.

The driver of the Camry has been arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter for his role in the fatal car accident. Whenever a Texas driver makes the decision to get behind the wheel, he or she assumes responsibility for any passengers within that vehicle. In this case, deciding to drink and drive appears to have led to the loss of life of one individual, as well as injury to another. As a result, criminal repercussions are expected, and personal injury or wrongful death suits are possible.
