Houston Man Charged with Manslaughter

A Texas man is facing charges in connection with an accident in Houston that left a person dead. The fatal car accident occurred when he was traveling at a high rate of speed and apparently failed to stop at a red light. He crashed into two other vehicles at an intersection. He first struck a green truck, causing it to strike another truck that was stopped at the red light.

The first person hit later died from his injuries. A witness to the fatal car accident claimed the man was traveling so fast that her vehicle shook when he passed her. The driver is now facing a manslaughter charge. He also sustained injuries in the accident and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. A blood draw was taken from him at the hospital, but the results are still pending.

Officials were able to obtain a court order so they could retrieve the data from the man’s air bag control module in his truck. It revealed the man was traveling 94 miles per hour only a couple of seconds before he smashed into the first pickup. He was traveling almost 60 miles per hour over the allowable speed limit on the road where the crash occurred. He was jailed, and his bond was set at $30,000.

A Texas Fatal Car Accident Attorney can Help Win Financial Compensation

When a Texas family loses a loved one in a fatal car accident like this one, there are often more questions than answers. Their family member appears to have been an innocent party, but lost his life merely because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Nothing can change what has already occurred, but the family does have the right to seek restitution through the filing of a wrongful death lawsuit. Such a claim, based on evidence of negligence, can seek a civil judgment for monetary damages sustained as a result of wrongful and perhaps reckless conduct.

Houston Hit-and-Run Driver Returns to Crash Scene

A Texas driver apparently responsible for a fatal hit-and-run car accident was arrested after returning to the scene. The car accident occurred in the early morning hours. The 21-year-old was traveling in a Nissan Versa when she crashed into the back of a Honda Civic. Instead of offering aid to the Civic driver, she contacted someone to pick her up at the scene.

The impact of the crash caused the Civic to slam into a concrete pillar. The Versa traveled through a fence before it stopped in a parking lot. The Civic driver was transported to the hospital, but later succumbed to her injuries.

Police were at the scene investigating when the woman returned to the scene at the request of family members. She was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid. A blood draw was taken to search for signs of intoxication. If drugs or alcohol are present, there is a possibility she will face additional charges.

When a Texas car accident like this occurs, it can leave the families with more questions than answers. Fortunately the results of the accident investigation will likely help answer many of those questions. It can also help the family if they decide to pursue a civil case against the Versa driver. If negligence is determined to be a factor in the crash, it may bolster the family’s claims and help them establish liability in a related civil action. Although the driver is facing criminal charges, she is not exempt from civil liability when the evidence documents that her negligence proximately caused the crash and resulting fatality.

November Marks 12 Years of Fatal Texas Car Accidents

For 12 straight years in the state of Texas, someone has died in a car accident. Since Nov. 2000, over 41,000 people have died in a fatal auto accident. Just in 2012 alone, there have been over 2,500 traffic fatalities.

The most recent accident occurred on I-10 when a woman was attempting to cross the highway and was struck by a vehicle. Authorities are trying to determine whether the woman was drinking. However, in addition to this woman’s death there are thousands of other people who are victims of car crashes in the state.

When drivers get behind the wheel of a car, they assume a reasonable duty of care for other motorists, passengers and pedestrians on the road. When someone fails to obey all traffic laws or becomes distracted, a moment can make all the difference and can turn a normal trip into a deadly occurrence. Texas officials have stated that drinking and driving is the leading cause of fatal accidents in the state. The second is failing to wear a seat belt or texting while driving.

A fatal auto accident affects not only the victims, but their families and friends. When someone does not obey the law, they could be held both criminally and civilly liable. There hasn’t been a year in over a decade where someone hasn’t lost their life in a fatal auto accident. From the reasons listed by Texas state officials, the majority of those reasons are preventable. Getting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol or choosing to text while driving can result in a deadly crash that can detrimentally affect someone’s life forever.

The man was towing a trailer and traveling westbound in his pickup truck when his vehicle apparently stalled. After exiting his vehicle, he was hit by the woman’s Honda Accord. He sustained critical injuries in the crash and was transported to the hospital but passed away.

Texas drunk driving accidents are one of the most preventable types of accidents. This woman made an error in judgment that will haunt both her and the man’s family for the rest of their lives and although she is facing criminal charges in this case, she has also opened herself up to the possibility of a civil suit. When someone’s negligent behavior causes the death of another, the victim’s surviving family could seek compensation in the form of a wrongful death lawsuit. Such could offer them a judgment against the responsible party that awards them monetary damages and a sense of justice against the person who took away their loved one. While it won’t change the tragic outcome of this fatal car accident, it could help the families feel the driver has been held fully accountable.

1 Killed when Car Crashes into Dallas Party

Halloween is a holiday that is often riddled with tricks, treats and surprises. However, one Texas family could not have expected that their Halloween party would be literally crashed by a car accident that injured several of them and killed one. It seems senseless that something as festive as a family party should turn into such a tragedy.

A family was enjoying their party when a white Camaro came crashing into the party. Investigators stated that the driver was going fast enough to clear an embankment and make it some distance across the backyard. The car damaged several pieces of equipment and killed a woman at the scene.

There were other people that were injured at the party. However, no life-threatening injuries have been reported at this time. One of the injured includes a four-year-old little girl. It is unclear if the driver of the vehicle sustained any injuries.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the accident. Police do have leads as to who the driver was. The son of the vehicle’s owner stated that he lent the car to a friend. The police are still getting information from other family members regarding this friend. Investigators believe that alcohol did play a part in the accident.

Harris County Sherrif's Sergeant Recovering After Crash

A Texas sheriff and another victim sustained injuries in a car accident recently. At first glance, the accident appeared to be much more serious than it actually turned out to be. However, two people were hurt in the car accident and had to be transported for medical care.

The sheriff was on his way to investigate a stabbing report. He was apparently with a group of other patrol cars at the time of the crash. Three of the other vehicles had made it through the intersection when he attempted to go through. The light unfortunately turned red.

As he was navigating through the intersection, another vehicle came through and the officer’s car struck the woman’s SUV, effectively T-boning it. The woman was ejected from her vehicle. Fortunately she is expected to be okay, but her condition has not been released. The officer was also taken to the hospital where he received treatment for broken bones. He is expected to be okay as well.

When an officer is responding to reports of a crime, it can be a dangerous situation navigating through traffic, but this does not mean he is absolved of responsibility for this Texas car accident. The other victim may be able to seek compensation for her injuries in the form of a personal injury lawsuit. There are no reports of such a lawsuit yet, but the woman is likely still in the hospital recovering. This could be an option for her in the future, should she elect to do so. Any judgment awarded, if negligence is established, could help her pay medical costs associated with this crash and any lost wages she may have suffered while recovering.

Baytown, TX Teen Killed in Crash, Honored

In Baytown, Texas, students at Sterling High School are mourning the loss of a classmate and friend to many. Students came to school wearing yellow clothing to honor and remember the young man, whose favorite color was yellow. The 16-year-old was killed in a car accident in Texas over the weekend of Oct. 20. He was with a 17-year-old friend at the time of the crash. The friend also sustained serious injuries in the incident and was hospitalized in critical condition.

The accident that claimed his life is believed to have been the result of a car chase involving shoplifting suspects. The young man who died, as well as the other teen involved in the accident were not guilty of any wrongdoing and were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. The suspects drove through an intersection at high speed and hit another vehicle as well as the car the teenagers were travelling in, engulfing two of the vehicles in flames.

The young man will be remembered as someone who was a great singer, who often performed solo pieces with the Sterling High School choir. He was also outgoing and kind to many and often made his classmates smile. Other memorials and vigils are planned in Baytown, Texas, to celebrate his life, cut too short by this terrible car accident.

As the investigation into this incident continues, more information may become available. For the family of the Texas teenager killed in this tragic accident, the results of the investigation may provide them with answers to some of the questions they have regarding the events that led to his death. Should investigators discover that negligence played a role in the crash, the family may use that information to mount a civil lawsuit for wrongful death against the responsible party or parties. While no lawsuit will make up for the loss anyone who has lost someone has experienced, a successful outcome could help someone to cover the costs associated with personal injuries or a lost income due to such a tragic event.

Lubbock Accidents Send Several to Hospital

The Texas Highway Patrol was called to work two accidents in a matter of minutes recently. Drivers had just gotten out of their cars after one car accident, when a driver failed to stop for the first accident and caused another car accident. These accidents have given the Texas Highway Patrol the chance to remind drivers to slow down when approaching an accident and be on the lookout for pedestrians and stopped cars.

The first accident occurred when a driver allegedly failed to yield the right of way as they pulled onto US 84 from FM 2641. When the vehicles came to rest in the middle of the intersection, drivers slowed to avoid debris, and others stopped to see if they could help. Within minutes, a Shallowater High School student failed to slow as he approached the accident and caused a chain reaction accident involving a total of four vehicles, including the student’s car.

According to the Texas Highway Patrol, a total of five people were injured as a result of both of these accidents. One person was seriously injured. Four suffered minor injuries. Three of the five injured were taken to University Medical Center, including the seriously injured individual, and the other two were taken to Covenant Medical Center. The updated condition of the seriously injured person is not known.

Houston Family Seeks Justice after Motorcycle Accident

Finding justice for a hit-and-run car accident can often seem like an uphill fight. One Texas family is vowing to keep up that fight to bring justice for a loved one reportedly killed by a man in a hit-and-run motorcycle accident. The tragic accident claimed the life of a 65-year-old motorcyclist back in April. Now authorities are trying to track down the man who they believe is responsible for causing the fatal accident.

The Texas Department of Public Safety maintains that the surveillance video proves the identity of the person who caused the accident. The footage apparently shows the man driving the truck that ran over the other man’s motorcycle. Not only does the video show the truck driver hitting the motorcycle, but sparks depicted in the video allegedly show the motorcycle being dragged for a distance after the initial collision.

The grieving family and friends of the motorcyclist are now banding together to raise money for their quest to track down the allegedly responsible driver. One person stated that while nothing can replace what they have lost, something that could bring them a measure of comfort is to see justice done on their relative’s behalf. Organizers of the benefit event indicate that proceeds will go toward whatever person helps them find the drive responsible for the hit-and-run car accident.

Surviving family members who lose someone in a Texas car accident sometimes decide to pursue wrongful death actions in civil court. This can provide a further measure of justice in addition to any criminal charges that might be filed. Such a successful civil action can also take care of costs for items such as funerals or to pay expenses for dependent children who have lost a parent unexpectedly. Texas residents interested in learning about their options surrounding wrongful death claims or car accidents could look into working with an attorney on the matter in order to gain recompense.

Atascosa County Crane Driver Dies in Accident

Commercial trucking accidents can occur more quickly than many people expect. Considering the significant size and weight of a commercial truck as compared to other vehicles, commercial trucking accidents can also prove more catastrophic than other types of collisions. One such commercial trucking accident recently claimed the life of a crane driver in Texas.

The fatal accident occurred at close to 5 p.m. where Texas 16 intersects with another roadway. Authorities reported that a commercial truck carrying a large load was traveling north on Texas 16 and apparently failed to yield at a stop sign. As a result, a crane driver traveling westbound on FM 140 died when the commercial truck smashed into the crane.

The truck driver was also injured when his vehicle plowed into the crane’s driver side. His trailer also reportedly flipped over in the intersection and snarled highway traffic for some time after the crash. Emergency personnel transported him to an area hospital, where he was last reported as being in fair condition.

Texas officials are still investigating this latest commercial trucking accident. One Department of Public Safety representative did state that the stretch of roadway where the crane driver lost his life has become extremely busy lately with traffic related to Eagle Ford Shale. With that increase in traffic and commercial trucking accidents, the area could see a rise in civil lawsuits as well. The surviving family members of those killed in such collisions are often able to seek financial restitution for the wrongful death of a loved one. In order to have a chance of prevailing, they must present evidence in court showing that another party’s negligent actions caused or contributed to the fatal accident.
