Fatal 18-Wheeler Accident takes Solider's Life

There is a certain amount of inherent risk involved when traveling on busy Texas roadways. Car accidents occur every day. In a worst case scenario, a fatal car accident takes place that is caused by driver negligence and leaves a trail of devastation and grief in its wake. The surviving family members of an accident victim often seek recovery for their losses by filing legal claims against those deemed responsible for the death.

A recent tragedy occurred that involved an active duty serviceman from Fort Hood. The 25-year-old was apparently riding in the front passenger seat of a vehicle when it struck a parked tractor-trailer from behind. The young man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The terrible crash occurred sometime after 2 a.m. on a recent Sunday. Two others were also injured in the collision. Their injuries, however, were non-life threatening, and they were able to be treated at a local hospital. The deceased victim had been serving on active duty since 2014 and was stationed as a member of a military police unit.

Wrongful Death Suits are Possible in Semi-Truck Accidents

A family facing the loss of a loved one killed in a fatal car accident in Texas may want to seek justice on behalf of the deceased. This is possible through the legal system by filing a wrongful death claim against the person believed to have caused the accident. While no amount of compensation can relieve a family’s grief, it can help offset funeral expenses and provide monetary recovery for other damages sustained through the accident, such as loss of consortium, emotional pain and suffering and/or medical costs for emergency care rendered before death.

Fatal Auto Accident Caused by Wrong-Way Driver

Distracted driving remains an ongoing problem on busy Texas highways. One state trooper recently stated that one of the biggest causes of distracted driving is cell phone use behind the wheel. He cautioned all drivers to use the far right hand lane and remain alert and aware of all surroundings while navigating Texas roads. Any motorist who acts with negligence is at risk for causing a fatal car accident.

Such seems to have been the case in a tragedy that occurred not long after 1 a.m. on a recent Saturday. The incident resulted in a fiery crash that took the lives of three people. One of the drivers was reportedly heading in the wrong direction on the highway.

“Wrong Way” Drivers Often Take Lives in an Accident

That vehicle is said to have struck another, resulting in a huge and disastrous fire. The 49-year-old man who was driving the alleged wrong-way vehicle died. A 21-year-old young man behind the wheel of the car that was struck was also killed. A 44-year-old woman traveling as a passenger in the car whose driver apparently caused the crash initially survived and was taken to an area hospital for treatment, but later succumbed to her injuries.

When a family loses a loved one to a fatal car accident in Texas that was caused by another motorist’s negligence, a legal claim can be filed in civil court to seek restitution. Though no amount of compensation can replace the loss of human life, it can help families meet many of the expenses often associated with a tragic fatal collision. When the person responsible for having caused an accident has died, a claim can still be filed against the decedent’s estate.

18-Wheeler Driver may have been Negligent

Many commercial trucks share Texas roadways with other travelers on a regular basis. It is imperative that all motorists act safely behind the wheels of their vehicles in order to protect themselves and others. When a commercial driver is negligent, it can result in a truck collision that causes injuries to innocent victims.

A recent crash was apparently caught on film, recorded from a dash camera inside a vehicle. It was approximately 11 a.m. on a Friday when a gravel-truck driver apparently failed to stop as he approached an intersection. The truck  smashed into several different vehicles.

After crashing into the other vehicles, the gravel truck reportedly veered off a nearby embankment. One witness stated that he had barely escaped being broadsided in his vehicle by the truck. Authorities closed the area to traffic for several hours in the aftermath of the accident. Four people suffered injuries in the incident, and all were taken to hospitals in the area for treatment.

Negligent Drivers should be Held Responsible

The Austin Police Department Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division is investigating the situation in order to determine why the gravel-truck driver failed to stop at the intersection. In similar circumstances, any Texas truck collision that results in injuries to several victims may lead to legal claims being filed in civil court against the party deemed responsible for negligence. A successfully litigated claim can provide compensation for damages that can be used to help an injured victim pay for medical bills and other expenses associated with an accident. Anyone considering filing such a claim can contact a personal injury lawyer to begin the process.

Deadly Crash Blocks TX 195

Many motorists grow anxious when it comes to sharing Texas highways with huge 18-wheeler trucks. A truck accident involving one of these enormous vehicles often results in serious injuries or death. Many times, the cause of such accidents is found to be driver negligence due to distraction, operator fatigue or reckless driving maneuvers.

A recent tragedy occurred at an intersection of Texas 195. Three vehicles, including a tractor trailer, were involved in the crash. Sadly, one person was killed in the massive collision.

Two others were transported to a nearby hospital after suffering injuries in the crash. No further information was provided with regard to specific injuries or current conditions of the victims. Both eastbound and northbound traffic was reportedly being diverted in the aftermath of the tragic situation. Drivers were being cautioned to completely avoid the area until the debris could be safely removed from the scene.

Litigation can be pursued after semi-truck accidents

No reports have been published regarding the exact cause of the truck accident. In similar situations, surviving victims sometimes file legal claims in civil court based upon evidence that another motorist is responsible for their injuries. Texas law also allows an immediate family member to pursue litigation on behalf of a victim who has suffered fatal injuries in a crash. While one can never replace the loss of human life, a monetary judgment against a party deemed responsible for a collision can help grieving families achieve financial relief with respect to the costs associated with the accident, such as funeral expenses and medical bills for any treatment provided before a victim succumbed to injury.

Driver is Fugitive in Garland Hit & Run

There is a certain amount of inherent risk when traveling on foot through areas that are open to traffic. Pedestrians in Texas and elsewhere are advised to comply with roadway regulations such as those that govern the use of crosswalks, crossing lights and more. Still, even when a pedestrian behaves according the utmost level of accepted safety standards, tragedy can occur when a hit and run accident takes place.

If a person is injured by a car while crossing the street, a legal claim can be filed in a civil court to seek compensation for damages. Many times, such accidents result in very serious injuries that require long-term medical care and daily living assistance. Such care is expensive, and a recovering victim may not have been prepared to meet these types of expenses.

In a successfully litigated claim, the court can award compensation that can be used to help offset some of the costs associated with a victim’s injuries. Sadly, many pedestrian accidents result in fatalities. In such circumstances, an immediate family member is able to act on behalf of a decedent in court.

Garland Authorities are Looking for a Gold Mustang

Authorities in Texas are reportedly continuing their search for the driver of a vehicle involved in a recent hit and run accident. The tragedy took place on a recent Saturday evening in Garland, and eye witnesses described the vehicle as a gold-colored Ford Mustang convertible. The woman who was crossing the street when she was struck by the car did not survive her injuries. In similar situations, once law enforcement agents locate a vehicle and driver deemed responsible for a pedestrian’s death, the family members of the victim would be able to begin the process of seeking justice through the legal system.

Car Accident Caused by Negligence

Texas motorists who do not adhere to traffic and safety regulations place themselves and others at risk. A car accident caused by driver negligence often results in injury. A surviving victim may be met with undue financial stress due to medical bills and other expenses associated with a crash.

An incident occurred on a recent Friday that police say was caused by a driver’s failure to yield a right of way to another motorist. A 25-year-old man was reportedly headed in a northbound direction when he attempted to make a left turn without properly yielding to a southbound vehicle. The southbound vehicle apparently crashed into the side of the man’s sport utility vehicle.

The collision caused a shut down at the intersection that is said to have lasted for at least an hour. The 38-year-old driver of the vehicle that was southbound was transported to an area hospital with injuries. The impact of the crash was quite severe as the driver who appears to have been responsible for the collision had to be extricated from his vehicle by firefighters who responded to the scene.

Medical Bills from Car Wreck Injuries can be VERY High

It is understandable that a surviving victim would want to seek justice when a Texas car accident was caused by another motorist’s failure to obey traffic regulations. Recovery care can be very expensive and, many times, an injured victim is unprepared to meet those expenses. In a successfully litigated case, a court can award compensation that can then be used to help offset some of those costs.

Drunk Driving Accidents Kill 10k Annually

Learning that a loved one has died in a car accident is a devastating experience. When the loved one is a young child, the sorrow is often intensified. When the fatal car accident is believed to have been caused by a drunk driver, those left behind may experience feelings of anger and frustration in addition to their immense grief.

A recent study suggests that nearly one third of all fatal car accidents in Central Texas were alcohol-related in 2015. Further, the number of alcohol-related accidents that resulted in deaths has apparently increased 19 percent over the past five years. Drunk drivers are menaces to the roadways, and those who have suffered the untimely deaths of loved ones under such circumstances may take comfort in knowing that the law allows them to seek justice on behalf of their deceased family members in court.

One of the tragedies that occurred in 2015 involved a mother and her toddler, not yet two years of age. A car reportedly crashed into the woman’s vehicle, killing her young daughter. She has since stated that she thinks it is very unfair when another person’s selfish choice causes such a tragic accident. She believes that more needs to be done to prevent such crashes from occurring in the future.

Drunk Drivers can be Held Financially Responsible

The driver who was deemed responsible for the loss of the toddler’s life was arrested for drunk driving. Any parent who has suffered a similar loss in a Texas fatal car accident is able to file a wrongful death claim in a civil court to seek compensation for damages. Though no amount of court-award monies can replace the loss of a human life, it can at least help alleviate some of the tremendous financial burdens often thrust upon grieving families in such situations.

Those who travel in Texas, whether by motor vehicle or on foot, are somewhat at risk each time they get behind the wheel or navigate roadways and crosswalks. However, no one ever expects to be involved in a hit and run accident that results in critical injuries. Such incidents are often caused when a motorist has been negligent or reckless while driving.

A recent accident occurred that involved a local college athlete. The tragedy happened in Dec. 2015. Police reported it as a hit and run at the time. Apparently, the vehicle involved had allegedly crashed into two pedestrians before teh driver fled the scene.

Those who were reportedly struck by the car, one age 23 and the other 18, both suffered injuries. The older victim was reported in critical condition. On a recent Friday, a police spokesman announced that a football player from the University of North Texas turned himself in to authorities as the driver involved in the accident.

Hit and Run Victims should Seek Damage Compensation

This is not the first hit and run accident to occur in Texas. Anyone who has suffered injury in such a situation may be entitled to seek restitution for damages by filing a personal injury claim in a civil court. By obtaining the assistance of an experienced attorney, an investigation can be undertaken to help determine sources of potential liability and the maximum amount of damages to which one may be entitled. In a successfully litigated claim, the court can award compensation that can be used to help pay medical bills, replace lost wages and offset other monetary damages associated with treatment and recovery.
