Pedestrian Accident Ends in Hit and Run
No one wants to begin a new year under tragic circumstances, especially when it involves a sudden death of a loved one caused by a motor vehicle accident. The tremendous sorrow associated with such an incident is often intensified when a pedestrian is killed. The members of a community in Texas recently faced such a tragedy together in the aftermath of a hit and run accident that remains under police investigation.
Just before midnight on a recent Monday, a resident in Eastern Travis County heard a loud noise outside. The neighbor called 911 after investigating further and witnessing a dark pickup truck driving away from a man who was lying on the ground. Responding officers were initially unable to identify the apparent victim, resulting in the need for the Medical Examiner to attempt identification by using his fingerprints.
A trooper involved in preliminary investigation said that the incident was the third hit and run accident assigned to him in three months’ time. He cautioned all motorists to slow down and pay closer attention to their surroundings. Authorities have published a phone number, along with a request that anyone with information about the accident call in to assist in the ongoing investigation.
Neighbors in the area said they were alarmed to be awoken to a street filled with police officers. Some noted that reckless driving is problematic in the area because there are no posted speed limit signs. One man stated that drivers often barrel through the neighborhood street at speeds in excess of 40 or 50 mph, thus placing pedestrians at great risk. When a hit and run accident occurs, Texas officers are often able to locate the vehicle and motorist involved, at which point surviving family members of a deceased victim may be able to file a wrongful death claim in court.
Marijuana may have Played Role in Car Crash
Various factors bear significance when considering the cause of a motor vehicle accident in Texas. Driver intoxication and recklessness behind the wheel are two of the most common factors of collisions that result in serious injuries or death/s of innocent victims. When field tests performed by responding law enforcement agents at the scene of a fatal car accident are inconclusive, a toxicology screening may be ordered to further determine whether a driver was impaired at the time of a collision.
On a recent Saturday in Katy, a crash took place that resulted in a fatality. The tragedy occurred when a motor vehicle, apparently traveling at excessive speeds, went out of control and smashed into another car on the highway. The impact of the collision caused the other car to flip over and crash into a wall on the freeway. A 65-year-old female passenger in that car died as a result of the crash.
Marijuana can Impair Driver Skill
The vehicle whose driver seems to have caused the accident is then said to have crashed into a second car before coming to a halt. Police have stated that the field tests they performed on the driver were not conclusive. They are also reportedly investigating whether the car was involved in a street race at the time of the tragic collision. Upon searching the man’s vehicle, police charged the man with possession of marijuana.
The results of the toxicology screening will help determine whether the driver was impaired when the fatal car accident occurred. Losing a loved one due to another motorist’s negligent or reckless driving in Texas often leaves families feeling angry and frustrated. A desire for justice prompts many to file wrongful death claims on behalf of their deceased family member. The process can be simplified by acting under the assistance of a personal injury attorney.

Head On Crash Caused by Driver Negligence
Texas motorists never know when a collision may occur on the roadway. Each person behind the wheel has the right to reasonably expect other drivers to act in accordance with traffic and safety regulations. Still, extenuating circumstances often occur that lead to motor vehicle accidents causing injury or even death to innocent victims. When a fatal car accident has been caused by driver negligence, family members of the deceased may seek justice on behalf of their loved one.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. on a recent Saturday, a motor vehicle accident occurred. Two vehicles were reportedly involved. The incident was a head-on crash that left tragedy and devastation in its wake.
The Department of Public Safety stated that the crash occurred moments after one of the two vehicles crossed the center line of traffic. A 54-year-old and a 50-year-old were both pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. Another person, age 53, was transported to an area hospital for emergency care; sadly, she also later succumbed to her injuries.
Tylka Law can Offset some Expenses from Car Accidents
An investigation into the Texas crash remains ongoing at this time. In a similar situation, the immediate family member of a victim killed in a fatal car accident is able to pursue legal action against another motorist that is believed to have been negligent while driving. Loved ones often face extensive financial debt in the aftermath of an auto accident, and seeking monetary judgment against those responsible for the crash can lead to compensation that may help offset expenses associated with the accident.

Pedestrian Killed in Hit and Run
Texas roadways are busy thoroughfares that, unfortunately, are also often the scenes of motor vehicle tragedies. Some collisions involve more than one vehicle and are caused by driver negligence. Other incidents, however, involve pedestrians who are struck down as they navigate their way through crosswalks or other sections of road. In some instances, the gravity of the situation is intensified when responding officers find themselves investigating an apparent hit and run accident that has taken a life.
Recently, two travelers called 911 when they saw a man lying in the road. He appeared to be having difficulty breathing. Official responders to the scene stated that they found pieces of a motor vehicle at the site, leading them to believe that the man had been hit by a car.
The officers launched an immediate investigation in search of any vehicle or person who might have been involved in the accident. The injured man was flown to an area hospital for emergency care. Sadly, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Legal Justice can be Found for Family Members
The apparent hit and run accident remains under investigation in Texas. Law enforcement agents typically have ways of using debris found at an accident cite to aid in their searches to locate a vehicle or driver who may have fled the scene. Suffering the death of a loved one in a pedestrian accident is certainly tragic; those involved often feel a strong need to seek justice on behalf of their deceased family member. A first logical step to take toward that end would be to contact a personal injury lawyer to obtain legal guidance.

2-Car Accident Kills Driver in San Antonio
Texas roadway safety much depends on the actions of each individual driver who gets behind the wheel. For reasons many times unknown, a motorist will suddenly lose control of a vehicle and careen into the direct paths of other cars. Such incidents often result in a fatal car accident where an innocent victim may be killed as a result of a driver’s negligence.
Recently, a woman was traveling in a southbound direction on north loop 1604. It was approximately 2:30 p.m. when tragedy struck. The woman’s vehicle veered into a nearby grassy median. Another vehicle in the vicinity is said to have attempted to avoid a crash. Sadly, however, the straying vehicle hit the other head-on and the driver of the car that was struck did not survive.
The woman who appears to have been responsible for the collision remains in a hospital intensive care unit due to her injuries. Reportedly, traffic lanes on the road were shut down for several hours in the aftermath of the tragic accident. However, by Sunday evening, all lanes were once again open.
Families can Find Compensation through an Attorney
When a Texas family receives word that a loved one has been killed in a fatal car accident, the news is never easy to bear. When information suggests that another motorist’s negligence was the leading cause of the accident, grieving family members’ sorrow is often intensified. Some choose to pursue legal action in such circumstances, filing wrongful death claims on behalf of their deceased loved ones in court. While it is obvious that one can never replace a human life lost, some say that it is a means to obtaining closure by seeking justice in a loved one’s memory.

Pedestrian Accidents Claim Lives
Texas roadways are typically filled with traffic every day of the week. Traffic regulations and caution on the part of motorists and those traveling on foot are meant to provide safety for all who share the road. Reckless driving and driver negligence continue to plague the nation’s roads, however. Matters are made worse when a hit and run accident occurs, often causing serious injury or, in worst cases, death to victims and grief to family members who survive them.
It is unlawful to flee the scene of an accident involving injury, death or property damage. The Tylka Law Firm and Mediation Center has a successful record of helping clients whose lives have been devastated by hit and run drivers. Some pedestrians have been struck by vehicles while they were in marked crosswalks. Others have been hit in parking lots when exiting a store and walking to their cars.
Legal Action can Claim Compensation for Victims
Motorists who speed or are careless behind the wheel can be held accountable for their actions by pursuing personal injury claims against them. In situations where victims do not survive their injuries, immediate family members may act on behalf of their deceased loved ones in court. We are prepared to aggressively focus on a driver’s negligence in order for clients to obtain compensation for the damages they have sustained due to an accident.
If a victim survives a hit and run accident, the injuries suffered are often severe and the repercussions long-lasting. Head and spinal cord injuries, fractured bones and serious internal damage are among complications pedestrians often suffer after being struck by a moving vehicle. If you are considering filing a legal claim as you recover from such trauma or wish to act on behalf of a loved one who has suffered an untimely death due to driver negligence, you can begin the process by calling The Tylka Law Firm and Mediation Center in Texas to schedule a consultation.
Semi-Truck Collides with Tour Bus
A tour bus was traveling in Texas with members of a rock band on board when it was involved in a collision with a tractor trailer on a recent Thursday. The truck accident resulted in two fatalities and injuries to multiple passengers. The Texas Department of Public Safety stated that the fatal crash occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m.
The private bus was carrying 10 members of the popular rock band “The Ghost Inside” when the accident occurred. For reasons yet unknown to authorities, the bus, traveling in a westbound lane, somehow struck the tractor trailer in the eastbound lane of traffic. Both the truck driver and the bus driver were killed in the accident.
The 10 passengers traveling on the bus were each injured and transported to area hospitals for treatment. The surviving family members of the truck driver would likely be entitled to receive workers’ compensation benefits through his employment. Apart from those benefits, however, grounds may exist for a civil lawsuit against the bus driver’s estate, as well as his employer.
This is certainly not the first truck accident resulting in fatalities in Texas, nor will it be the last. In situations where one of the motorists involved is found responsible in negligently causing an accident, injured victims are able to pursue legal action if they wish to seek compensation for damages they have sustained. In circumstances where the driver who caused the accident is among the fatalities, a claim can be filed against his or her estate. Spouses or other immediate family members of deceased victims may act on behalf of their loved ones in court. Injured victims would have a similar right to pursue personal injury claims for financial losses.

Drunk Drivers Kill Thousands Every Year
Texas motorists are obligated to operate their motor vehicles according to the highest level of safety and traffic standards and regulations. Alcohol-related crashes continue to plague the state and the entire nation. A common yet devastating result of many drunk driving accidents is the loss of innocent lives. In a recent fatal car accident, the life lost was that of a young child. Six others were reportedly injured.
A 25-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a vehicle that was carrying at least seven passengers. The driver appears to have suddenly lost control of steering and crashed into a wooden pole along the side of the roadway. The impact of the collision was reportedly so strong that the pole broke in two and came crashing down on the car.

Four children were injured in the crash, as well as three adults. All of the injured victims were transported to area hospitals for emergency care. Sadly, a 5-year-old girl was later pronounced dead when she succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The local police unit stated that the unit had just finished taking part in a public walk to raise awareness against dunk driving.
Responding officers say that they believe excessive speed and impaired driving were the two leading factors that caused the tragic fatal car accident. The Texas driver was taken to jail, and a bond of just less than $63,000 was set. She faces numerous charges, including intoxication manslaughter, driving without a valid license, driving without insurance or a proper inspection sticker and assault.

Four People Killed by Car in Austin, TX Music Festival
On a festive night in 2014, a local Texas community was devastated after a horrific incident took place outside a musical festival. As crowds of people gathered in the streets that were marked off for the occasion, a vehicle suddenly plowed through, allegedly striking many people so hard that their bodies became airborne. The fatal car accident resulted in the loss of four lives and left others injured.
The man who was behind the wheel of the car at the time recently pleaded not guilty to the two sets of murder charges against him. Authorities say that moments before the tragic accident occurred, the same man had fled a sobriety checkpoint on the road. He reportedly drove straight through a police barricade and kept going until he barrelled through the standing crowd at the festival.
Sadly, a 35-year-old and a 27-year-old died at the scene of the crash. Two others, one 26 and the other 18, succumbed to their injuries a week later. In addition to the murder charges against him, the driver also faces charges of aggravated assault with regard to the injured survivors.
A Personal Injury Lawyer can Help You Get Compensation
When a loved one dies in a fatal car accident, there is nothing that can undo what has already taken place. Families and friends are understandably grief-stricken in the aftermath of such a tragedy. In Texas and other states, however, there can be some comfort in knowing that the immediate family members of a deceased victim may choose to file a legal claim against any party or parties deemed responsible for their loved one’s death. While even a successfully litigated case cannot alter the loss of human life, it can provide monetary help to offset funeral costs or other financial damages incurred as a result of the tragedy.
