Fiery SUV Crash Kills Two Near Georgetown

A tragic accident occurred on a Texas roadway on a recent Thursday morning. Questions remain as to the circumstances that led to the tragedy. An investigation is ongoing in the case. Sadly, the car wreck resulted in two fatalities.

A single vehicle was involved in the recent automobile accident that left the driver severely injured and two of his passengers dead. A 32-year-old man was behind the wheel of a sports utility vehicle when, for reasons not known, the vehicle careened off-road, went airborne and crashed under a nearby bridge. The vehicle reportedly ignited in flames upon impact.

Responders to the scene discovered the driver of the SUV lying outside the vehicle. Those rendering aid were able to get him away from the fire, though he suffered severe injuries. He was transported to an area medical center and was listed in critical condition. A 19-year-old girl traveling in the same vehicle died at the scene of the accident. One other occupant, whose identity has not yet been released, also died.

Family Members can File a Claim for Compensation

In cases where a Texas car wreck results in the untimely death of a victim, his or her immediate family members may file a legal claim in a civil court in order to seek compensation for monetary damages sustained. If the motorist deemed negligent in the incident has also succumbed to injury, a claim can still be filed against his or her estate. Though court-awarded compensation is by no means a replacement for the loss of human life, it might comfort those involved to know that any monies awarded could be used to help offset financial losses incurred due to an accident.

Skateboarder Killed in Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Incident

A police investigation remains ongoing after a tragic accident occurred recently in Texas. The incident has been reported as a hit and run accident. Police have stated that they discovered evidence at the scene that can help locate the vehicle suspected of being involved in the accident.

A passerby is said to have called police shortly after 2:30 a.m. to report an apparent accident scene. The person had noticed a skateboard on the road, then saw what appeared to be an unconscious person lying nearby. Police immediately responded to the call.

It was determined that the 21-year-old young man lying on the road had been struck and killed by a motor vehicle. Officers who conducted a preliminary investigation of the scene apparently found evidence that the vehicle that had hit the man was either a pickup truck or other sport utility vehicle. They also stated that the vehicle in question most likely sustained front headlight damage.

Pedestrians can Find Compensation Through Legal Means

In similar circumstances, once Texas officers locate a driver suspected to have caused the death of a pedestrian, a deceased victim’s surviving family members would be able to seek recourse for the untimely loss of their loved one by filing a legal claim in a civil court. In such cases, those filing a claim would be able to seek compensation for damages that might include emotional pain and suffering, loss of potential earnings, funeral expenses and any other monetary losses associated with a hit and run accident. A compensatory award in no way replaces the loss of human life, but it might help family members alleviate some of the financial burdens that might be incurred in the aftermath of an accident.

18-Wheeler Smashed into Fire Truck

A tragic fatal accident occurred on a recent Sunday in Texas. Crews were brought in to remove wreckage of the tractor trailer that had burned at the scene. One life was lost in the truck accident and several other individuals were reported with serious injuries.

The crash occurred on Texas 183 when a tractor-trailer driver reportedly smashed into a fire truck. Three fire fighters were said to have suffered very serious injuries in the collision. A 55-year-old male who was driving the truck died at the scene of the accident. The cab of the big rig apparently caught on fire upon impact.
In addition to the crash involving the tractor trailer and the fire truck, a police squad car that had responded to the scene was allegedly struck by a passing vehicle, causing damage to the car but no injury to anyone. The driver of that car reportedly attempted to run away from the scene but was apprehended by officers a short distance away. He was placed under arrest on suspicion of drunk driving.

Semi-Truck Drivers can be Held Financially Responsible for Injuries Sustained in an Accident

When a Texas truck accident results in injury to a person or persons who were not responsible for the crash, they are able to pursue legal action against the party or parties deemed at fault. If the party believed responsible does not survive the accident, a claim may be filed against his or her estate. This is sometimes done when injured persons choose to seek compensation for damages so as to help alleviate the costs of their medical bills and other expenses related to the accident. While these fire fighters are likely entitled to workers’ compensation benefits as a result of the accident, they retain a separate right to pursue a personal injury claim against the estate of the deceased trucker and the trucking company,

Lake Charles Car Accident Leaves Many Victims

A crash occurred on a Texas roadway that resulted in the loss of one life and injuries to several others. The fatal car accident involved two vehicles. The Texas Department of Safety reported that the collision took place on a road in Amarillo.

Reports indicate that a 23-year-old man was driving a vehicle that carried two other occupants. One of the passengers in the man’s vehicle was said to be his 6-month-old son. Apparently, the driver veered across the center lane of traffic and crashed into another vehicle. The 62-year-old man driving the vehicle that was reportedly struck in the collision was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The young man driving the car that seems to have drifted out of its lane was also injured in the crash, as was his infant son. They were both listed in stable condition after being taken to the hospital for treatment. Sadly, a woman who was also traveling in the vehicle did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Car Accident Victims can Claim Legal Compensation

When a fatal car accident occurs on Texas roadways, the immediate family members who survive a victim can file a legal claim in a civil court if the accident was caused by another motorist’s negligence. In seeking compensation for damages, a family could receive a compensatory award in a successfully litigated case that could be used to help absorb funeral costs and other expenses related to the accident. An attorney with experience in motor vehicle accidents would be able to assess an individual case and help those involved determine what might be the best way to proceed when preparing to pursue legal action against the person deemed liable in the incident.

Drivers that Text are made Legally Culpable

Recent controversy has arisen in the state of Texas regarding the banning of hand-held electronic devices while driving. The state is one of the few in the United States that does not have a ban on texting while driving. An Austin officer whose job is car accident investigation was recently asked whether he thought a state-wide ban would reduce the number of distracted driving crashes in the state.

The city of Austin recently enacted a ban on using hand-held electronics while driving. However, the officer interviewed stated that he has never heard a driver admit that his or her cellphone use was the cause of an accident. Some say that the lack of self-admission in the aftermath of accidents caused by texting or cellphone use results in flawed research data, which is often based, in some measure, on self-reporting. Therefore, it might be difficult to determine if a state-wide ban would reduce the number of distracted driving accidents in Texas.

Research has demonstrated that texting or using a cellphone while driving is extremely dangerous and puts all motorists at risk. Republican Representative Tom Craddick has joined family members of those killed by distracted drivers to push for a state-wide prohibition of texting while driving. Relatives of fatally wounded victims recently testified in support of the ban.

Victims of Distracted Drivers can Claim Legal Compensation

Currently, approximately 40 Texas cities have taken steps to ban texting while driving. In Austin, where there were 70 distracted driving accidents in 2014, the ban has been extended to include all use of hand-held electronic devices when behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. If a person has been injured in a car accident due to another motorist’s use of a cellphone while driving or other form of negligence, he or she can file a personal injury claim in a civil court against the driver deemed at fault in the incident even if the accident occurs in a city where there is no ban on the use of cellphones while driving.

Victim of 3-Car Accident Sues Driver for Negligence

A case was presented in a Texas district court on a recent Monday in the aftermath of a collision that involved three automobiles. One of the injured victims in the accident has filed the legal claim against another of the motorists involved in the crash. The 2013 car accident was allegedly caused by one driver’s failure to control speed.

The woman who  filed the legal claim was reportedly heading northbound on the road when the accident occurred. A motor vehicle crashed into another car, which, in turn, struck the woman’s vehicle from behind. She was injured in the collision and has sued for damages in light of her personal injury and injury to her personal property.

The woman’s lawsuit alleges that the driver of the car that appears to have caused the chain-reaction collision failed to control his speed and should, therefore, be held liable for vehicular negligence. Part of the woman’s claim suggests that the defendant should have implemented evasion action in order to avoid a collision. Accident reports listed failure to control speed as a leading factor in the cause of the crash.

Legal Damages can Include Medical Expenses, Attorney Fees, and More

As in this case, a person injured in a car accident in Texas is able to seek compensation for damages that might include medical expenses, attorney fees and recompense for physical or emotional injuries. A person is entitled to represent himself or herself in court if he or she so chooses. However, many accident victims choose to act under the advice and guidance of a legal professional who has experience in motor vehicle accident cases.

Over 3,000 are Killed from Distracted Driving Annually

A recent study on the human brain showed that when drivers listen to conversations while they are behind the wheels of their vehicles, the capacity of their brains to concentrate on spatial processing is greatly diminished. This brain function is necessary while operating a motor vehicle. Engaging in a conversation or other act of distracted driving can pose a hazard to oneself and others in or near the roadway. Sadly, a Texas car accident due to distracted driving is far from unusual.

According to data from 2010 statistics, there were approximately 3,092 people killed in motor vehicle accidents across the nation that year that involved distracted driving. Among teenagers who drive, studies show that at least 40 percent of them have admitted to using cellular telephones while driving motor vehicles. Talking on a cell phone and sending text messages while driving are two of the most significant factors that cause distracted driving accidents.

These and other distracted actions inhibit a person’s focus when he or she is driving a motor vehicle. Attention is led away from the road and drivers are not as capable of appropriately reacting to changes in traffic patterns when they are looking down to send a text message or engaging in conversation on a phone. Often, this type of behavior behind the wheel leads to accidents that result in personal injuries or, worse, fatalities.

Contact a Texas Attorney to File a Claim Against a Distracted Driver

Telephone mogul AT & T recently launched a campaign to deter drivers from texting behind the wheel. As part of the campaign, stories of families who have suffered the untimely deaths of their loved ones, as well as victims who have suffered traumatic brain injuries and other serious wounds in accidents where a driver was talking on a phone or texting, were publicized to raise awareness and encourage motorists to leave their cell phones untouched while driving their motor vehicles. In Texas cases where a car accident results in a personal injury, the injured victim may file a legal claim against the party deemed responsible in order to seek compensation for damages such as medical bills, emotional pain and suffering and/or necessary long-term living assistance that has become necessary in recovery.

Drunk Driving Leads to Head-On Collision

Drunk driving continues to be the cause of many injuries and deaths across the nation. A recent Texas car accident resulted in the death of one person and criminal charges against another. Sadly, a daughter was left mourning the loss of her mother in the alcohol-related incident.

The tragic crash occurred about an hour and a half after midnight on a recent Sunday. A 43-year-old woman had reportedly been visiting her friend to celebrate a family member’s birthday. Upon leaving the party, the friend said that she told the victim to be careful traveling home and to call to let her know she had safely arrived. She said that this was her custom whenever her friend would visit and that her friend always called to let her know she was back home.

After the recent celebration, a call went out to police about an apparent wrong-way driver on the road where the woman was traveling. A 19-year-old male was behind the wheel of the car that was headed in the wrong direction. His vehicle is said to have crashed head-on into the one the woman was driving. She did not survive the collision.

Drunk Drivers can be Held Civilly Liable – Consult with an Attorney to Receive Damages

The wrong-way driver has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter in the Texas car accident. Though filing a lawsuit can never remove the grief a family experiences in the sudden and tragic death of a loved one, a successfully litigated case filed on behalf of the deceased can bring court-awarded compensation that can be used to help alleviate some of the financial costs associated with an accident. In this case, a young woman has been left to care for her two younger siblings. In similar cases, surviving family members would have a right to seek compensation for such tremendous damages.

Fatal Auto Accident Shuts Down US 290

Texas U.S. Highway 290 was recently shut down following a tragic collision that resulted in a loss of life. More than one person was injured in the fatal car accident. The vehicle that seems to have caused the crash was said to have been traveling the wrong way on the highway.

Police have stated that investigations remain ongoing with regard to the vehicle that was traveling the wrong direction in traffic at the time of the recent collision. A young woman in her twenties was driving the car that was in the wrong lane. According to reports, her vehicle struck another head-on, resulting in her own death.

Two men who were traveling in the other vehicle suffered very serious injuries and were both transported to area hospitals for emergency care. Investigators are unsure how the woman’s vehicle entered the wrong lane of traffic due to the fact that the opposite lanes of traffic on that particular portion of highway are separated by a divider. It has not yet been determined whether alcohol or drugs are factors in the case. Authorities believe the woman must have been traveling quite a distance in the wrong lane before reaching the point where the accident took place.

Victims and Families can File Legal Claims Against an At-Fault Driver

In cases where severe injuries have been caused by another driver who has died in a fatal car accident, Texas law allows injured victims to file a legal claim against the estate of the at-fault driver. Serious injuries from a vehicular collision sometimes necessitate ongoing, long-term medical care in order for a victim to achieve a full recovery. This can lead to financial distress that might be somewhat alleviated by compensation the court can award in a successfully litigated case.
